A work assembled across cahiers
Les Milliet
1910–1912
Edited by Paul Milliet from his family papers, Les Milliet is an eleven-volume family chronicle that traces several generations of a French bourgeois family through the long nineteenth century — Italian travels, the Franco-Prussian war, the Commune, and the moral and artistic life of provincial France. Péguy ran it across three series of the Cahiers, treating it as a documentary counterweight to Rolland’s fiction.
