A work assembled across cahiers
Mes cahiers rouges
1908–1914
Maxime Vuillaume — once a young red-cahier editor during the Paris Commune — gave Péguy his memoirs to publish in installments from 1909 onward. Mes cahiers rouges recounts the seventy-two days of the Commune from the inside, with the texture of a participant’s notebook rather than a historian’s narrative. The series is one of the most important primary sources for the Commune that the Quinzaine ever printed.
